PING 

One act

A man and a woman meet on a bench on Parliament Hill.

'Ping' was professionally performed at 'Scripts Live' CAA Theatre Covent Garden,London.


CHARACTERS:

OLD MAN - refined, smart, curious
YOUNGER WOMAN - pensive, sense of humour, attractive.

SET: A bench on Parliament Hill, Hampstead Heath

TIME: Present day

ABOUT:

A WOMAN saunters over to a seat on the top of Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead Heath, and sits. The seat is placed so that it overlooks London. Warmly clad for the outdoors, she takes out of her handbag a rubber band and starts playing with it, then with one arm raised she snaps the band back and forth. An elderly man approaches. She drops the band onto the ground by mistake and he picks it up and gives it to her before sitting a small distance away from her on the same seat. A conversation strikes up. He is intrigued. What absorbs this woman's interest? And why the rubber band?

Fenella: Younger, femme fatale, glamorous.
Setting: The Hall in fictitious McDuckley Castle, Scotland. Present day.

                                                                                                                                                                    ABOUT:

                                                                               This short one act play addresses the plight of Lilith who suffers from 

                                                                                    Charles Bonnet Syndrome (visual hallucinations affecting some people

                                                                                                       with eye disorders.) First she sees and has a conversation with Charles the First,

                                                                                                          and then a Victorian housemaid. These imaginings escalate until finally, desperate

                                                                             for help she alerts the warden of the home who pays her a visit. 

                 And there lie the twist in the tail.

                 Recent times: Two scenes. One set

                                                              After leading a secular life Charles decides to take Holy Orders. He seeks spiritual guidance

 from his local priest and to whom he is attracted. On the eve of Charles ordination, Grayson tell him

that he is to be married. This acts as a catalyst as Grayson is now forced to confront his feelings.

In the second scene Charles has become a curate in a parish, carrying out in a somewhat perfunctory 

manner, his ecclesiastical duties. It is a visit from a young woman parishioner seeking his

advice who inadvertently gives Charles the help he needs in order to face his demons

and come to terms with his sexuality.

Charles. 40's. About to be ordained into the Anglican Church.

Grayson: 50's. Parish priest & adviser to Charles.

Gail: 30's. Young wife, mother and parishioner.

                                                                             A TWO ACT FARCE 
                                                                           Synopsis:
                                                                                                                    Harry, an aspiring out of work young actor, is very behind with the rent for his bed-sitting room.
                                               Desperate for money, he hatches a plot to persuade his stepfather Alban, a                                                         retired bank manager, to come to his rescue. Alban arrives only to discover that                                                    Harry's attractive landlady is an old flame of his, a woman who still arouses past                                           passions. When they all meet in Heather’s sitting room, together with Harry's pregnant
                         girl-friend, hilarious complications ensue. A Sat Nav, which refuses to switch of
and insists on giving advice, adds to the fun. 

                                                  Time: present day: 2 sets: bedroom/sitting room 

CHARACTERS:
5 males, 3 females
HARRY: An out of work actor - young
ELLIE - His girlfriend - young
HEATHER: His landlady - middle aged
GRAHAM: A fellow actor - young
UNCLE ALBAN: Harry's guardian - elderly, colonel type.
SHEENA: His wife - elderly but a bit glamorous
